FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

 

Does it cost anything to attend this event?

Yes. Each year the cost to attend our career fair changes, however you can estimate $250-$300 depending on how many company representatives that come.  An exact cost will be on the registration form.

 

Is there a limit as to how many company representatives we may bring?

No. There is an additional cost per representative and space is limited, however you are welcome to bring as many people as you need.  Please note that we can only fit three chairs at each table.

 

What is the schedule of events? When can I set up? Can we interview?

A schedule of events will be included in your registration packet.  Typically set up begins after breakfast. The event runs from 10am until 2pm.  Lunch will be offered in the main dining room from about 11:30-1:30.  Interviews may be held immediately following the event at your display table until about 5pm.  Additional interview space can be reserved for the next day, but arrangements need to be made in advance. Communication needs to be directly with the student regarding all interview scheduling, conflicts and changes. So be sure you have a way to contact the student when setting up the interview.

 

How many students should we expect?

Maine Maritime Academy has about 800 students spanning 13 different majors.  All of our students, faculty and staff are invited to participate in this event. Companies can expect to talk to both seniors looking for employment and undergraduates gathering information for summer co-op or internship experiences. It is hard to estimate how many people will actually take part in this event.

 

How much space will I have? What sort of display works best?

Each company will have a 6 foot table which is draped in a table cloth and skirting. Space is limited so free-standing, table top displays seem to work best. Power is NOT available so TV/VCR displays are not recommended and laptops should have a fully charged battery.

 

Can we ship our display and/or materials to you in advance?

Yes. We are more than happy to receive your display/materials and keep them for you until the day of the event.  We will bring everything you have shipped to your table the morning of the event.  Please keep in mind that next day delivery is not available in Castine due to our remote location. In most cases we recommend that you plan on at least one extra day when making shipping arrangements.

How do I get a registration packet?

Simply email our office: career@mma.edu and provide us with a point of contact and mailing address. These will be sent out in early September.
