ELIGIBILITY FOR CADET SHIPPING ASSIGNMENTS
Students
must have completed one training ship (T/V STATE OF MAINE) cruise
(CR-103) and two
years at the Academy. The cadet
shipping (sophomore) cruise is designated as cd/ce 203 (4 credits).
It is a prerequisite for the junior cruise designated as cd/ce 303.
This will require students transferred from other college institutions
and enrolled as sophomores to complete cd/ce 303 after graduation. Issuance of U.S. Coast Guard licenses in such cases will be
withheld until the 180/360-day sea time requirement is satisfied. The
Academy can and will assign students to the training ship T/V STATE OF MAINE for
the second of three training cruises if: 1.
There are an insufficient number of training billets to accommodate the
entire class. 2.
The student requests to be assigned to there. 3.
A student has a disciplinary, academic and/or medical problem. 4.
For any other reason
deemed important by the Academy administration.
